Killing Kennedy

Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot is a 2012 non-fiction book by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard about the 1963 assassination of U.S. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. It is a follow-up to O'Reilly's 2011 book Killing Lincoln. Killing Kennedy was released on October 2, 2012 through Henry Holt and Company.

Synopsis

In Killing Kennedy the authors narrate the events leading up to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy as well as the event's aftermath. O'Reilly and Dugard also focus on the element of the growing Cold War, Kennedy's attempt to deal with the rise of Communism, and the potential threat from organized crime.

Reception

Critical response to Killing Kennedy was mixed, with the New York Times writing that the book was at times disappointing but that it "picks up strength as it heads for its date with destiny". The book has been criticized for a "lack of citation and occasional 'literary liberties'". For example, in the prologue, the authors write, "Kennedy is the youngest president ever elected. Eisenhower is the oldest." While Kennedy was the youngest president ever elected at the time of his inauguration and remains so today, Eisenhower was not the oldest ever elected even in 1961 at the time of Kennedy's inauguration. William Henry Harrison was the oldest president ever elected as of 1961. However, in 1961 at the end of his term Eisenhower was the oldest president to date, as Harrison died one month into his term at the age of 68 years 54 days. Eisenhower was 70 years 98 days old on the day of Kennedy's inauguration.

Killing Kennedy (film)

Killing Kennedy is 2013 American television film, based on the 2012 non-fiction book of the same title by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard, and starring Rob Lowe as United States President John F. Kennedy and Will Rothhaar as Lee Harvey Oswald.

It premiered in the US and Canada on National Geographic Channel on November 10, 2013, followed by the various European National Geographic channels a few days later. It was first shown on terrestrial TV in the UK by Channel 4 on November 23. 2013.

Plot summary

The movie dramatizes the presidency and assassination of Kennedy, as well as the life of Lee Harvey Oswald in the years leading up to the assassination.

Lisa Kennedy Montgomery (stage name Kennedy; born September 8, 1972) is an American political satirist, radio personality, former MTV VJ, and current host of Kennedy on the Fox Business Network. She was the host of MTV's now-defunct daily late-night alternative rock program Alternative Nation throughout much of the 1990s.

Early life

Montgomery was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and raised in Lake Oswego, Oregon, an affluent suburb outside of Portland. Montgomery attended but did not graduate from Lakeridge High School in 1990. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from UCLA.

Career

Montgomery first came into the public eye in 1991 as an intern at Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM, where she was known on the air as "The Virgin Kennedy." A year later she took the "VJ" job at MTV, where she spent several years.

As "Kennedy", Montgomery ushered in a new musical era for MTV as the host of Alternative Nation from 1992–1997, helping popularize bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.

Kennedy (miniseries)

Kennedy is a five-hour miniseries written by Reg Gadney and directed by Jim Goddard. The TV miniseries was a biography of the 1961-1963 presidency of John F. Kennedy. The miniseries was produced by Central Independent Television and originally aired in the United States starting on 20 November 1983 around the time of the 20th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination.

The mini-series stars Martin Sheen as President John F. Kennedy, John Shea as Robert F. Kennedy, Blair Brown as Jacqueline Kennedy, E. G. Marshall as Joseph P. Kennedy, Vincent Gardenia as J. Edgar Hoover and Kelsey Grammer as Stephen Smith amongst many others.

The series was broadcast on NBC, and was also sold to 50 Countries, with 27 of them broadcasting the series simultaneous. The series was nominated for 3 Golden Globes and 4 BAFTA, and won Baftas for Best Drama Series and Best Make Up.
